Developing Responsibly. Listening Carefully.

PALS is being developed with respect for the communities, landscapes, and natural resources that make the Pacific Northwest unique.

As the project advances, community perspectives will be an important part of the process. We are committed to listening, sharing information openly, and considering potential effects on the people who live and work near future PALS operations.

Protecting the environment

Responsible development is fundamental to the PALS concept.

Planning, design, construction, and operations will be required to comply with all applicable environmental laws, regulations, reviews, and permitting requirements. PALS will work to identify potential impacts early and incorporate measures to avoid, reduce, or mitigate them wherever practicable. That includes careful consideration of issues such as noise, lighting, traffic, air and water quality, wildlife, habitat, and other natural and community resources.

Designing for minimal impact

Our objective is not simply to meet regulatory requirements. It is to develop infrastructure thoughtfully and operate in ways that minimize impacts on surrounding communities and the environment while supporting safe and reliable access to space.

Site configuration, facilities, operating procedures, and other project elements will continue to evolve as technical studies, environmental review, regulatory processes, and community engagement progress.

Respect for place

PALS believes that expanding access to space and protecting the character and resources of the places that make that access possible must go hand in hand.

We intend to build carefully, operate responsibly, and listen throughout the process.

Understanding Potential Impacts

Spaceflight can produce sound, vibration, traffic, lighting, and other temporary effects. Launch and reentry operations also require planning for unexpected events. As PALS develops, these potential impacts will be evaluated through technical analysis, environmental review, and applicable safety and regulatory processes. Facility design and operating plans will seek to minimize effects on surrounding communities and the environment wherever practicable.
